It’s time for Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) to show us what a great comet can be!
C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS)
We have all been eagerly watching this comet’s movement across the skies. It has been in the morning sky until this month. It will pass the Sun early in October and will soon appear in the evening sky after sunset starting in about a week from this writing.
I am reading reports on the internet and on Facebook that suggest that you should start looking for this comet in the evening sky on or about Oct 10th. This will be just after sunset as the sky darkens we can look for the comet to appear. There are some reports that it may even be visible during daylight, This would be indeed exceptional, but I am not holding my breath for this to occur.
I suggest checking for the comet and where to find it by using this link or theskylive.com and adjusting the display for your location and the desired time you plan to look, On the 10th the comet will be in the west. Remember if you need to find the comet enter C/2023 A3 in the search window for this site.

The Path
The path it’s been following in the sky is shown here in this image.
After Oct 10th
After Oct 10th the Comet will continue it’s eastward march through Serpens and Ophiuchus but we can expect it’s brightness to fade as it moves away from us in the sky.
